“Called Frater’s first after a quick Google search. The person who took my call was pretty dismissive of one of the small jobs I wanted to have done and spoke to me about it like I was a child, basically discouraging me from having it done. Then when I told her about two other issues and said I would like to get an estimate on the work, she said there was no way to do that because they didn’t know what they would find once they started looking around. She took my number and said an electrician would call me to talk about it more and maybe they could give me a “ball park” figure. I then called Wes Carver Electrical and instead of being vague about what we would owe, I was told that they would send someone out who would do all the trouble shooting for a set (reasonable) fee. Then we would get an actual, detailed estimate. I thought this made a lot more sense than just letting someone come start the work with no idea of what the final bill would be, and I understand that I can’t expect a professional to waste an hour or more poking around for free. The person I first spoke to was friendly and did not act like I was an idiot. I received a call back about scheduling an appointment shortly thereafter and we were able to get an appointment very quickly (this was all set up before Frater’s even got back to me). The electrician sent to our house, John, was very friendly and professional. He pointed out why certain things wouldn’t work, or would not be cost-effective, instead of simply saying yes to everything we asked for just to rack up a huge bill. He explained things clearly and was very thorough. At one point he double checked with me about the cost of one the tasks before starting it just to confirm that I was ok with spending the money on it. I feel that we got our money’s worth and we will definitely use Wes Carver any time we need an electrician in the future.”
