Wanna Save money on your Electric Bill? Turn off your computer at night! – We did a little test in our Lansdale office. We used a “KILL-A-WATT” meter to measure how much electricity is used from a single PC in a 24-hour period in two scenarios. For scenario 1 (Day 1) – We let the computer run all night. For scenario 2 (Day 2) – We turned the computer off at the end of the work day.
The results? Almost 50% reduction in electricity consumption.
Here is the breakdown in $$:
1.1 Kilowatt Hour per day
31 Kilowatt Hour per month
372 Kilowatt Hour per year
For our Utility, we save $90 per year by turning off a single computer at night.
